YOU HAVE RECEIVED A DINNER INVITATION

Post by joni »

You have received an ornate invitation requesting your presence for dinner tomorrow, April 5th, 2020 at 6pm PST. It’s printed on expensive cardstock, your name is embossed on the envelope, and the envelope is sealed with wax.

This is a very special invitation. Please RSVP.

Everyone is invited and the dinner will take place in this thread. The dinner will take place in an unusual old Victorian home in the fabulous Las Quarantinas estates. Please dress to impress.

While you are more than welcome to attend as yourself, there are also roles available below on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Hosts: yourfriendclaire & jonathan_stick

Chef: AVAILABLE
** Please be prepared to describe an elaborate five-course meal

Sommelier: AVAILABLE
** A focus on natural wine would be a bonus

Bartender: AVAILABLE
** Cocktails will precede dinner in the front parlor, and will also be available after dinner in the study

Dealer: AVAILABLE
** You provide common, designer, and rare substances and have almost a sixth sense for personal recommendations

Performer: AVAILABLE
** There will be time reserved for an after-dinner performance in the study as everyone enjoys some fine brandy. We can arrange your needs privately, whether it’s an audio file, video link, live microphone, etc.

This nearly brought tears to my eyes. So damn delightful. However, I am likely to be asleep in my Belgian bed at 3 am CET. I will have to decline this invitation. Have a lovely time. If it is a success, perhaps the next can be a brunch.
(If I were y'all, I'd snag up the role of Dealer right quick.)

I love this but (please don't mock me) that is too close to my bedtime (EST).
I look forward to waking up while you are all still dead asleep and "catching up" on what "went down" at the dinner party

I love this, but I have a weekly D&D game at that time.

That's fun! We have our Shadowrun game tonight. We're using a platform called Roll20, is that what you use for virtual games?

Yep! We use Roll20 for the game, and video, and discord for chat. I played a video game version of shadowrun, it was strange. Lots of d6. Question: If a player hacks, does the game kind of shut down while they do their thing? They get more actions while hacking, right? And can get into combat? Doies everyone where combat boots? Is everything the 90s in Shadowrun?

This is so nice! I actually have a spaghetti dinner video chat tomorrow night. Two lady friends and I have been having semi-regular Sunday night spaghetti dinners for years but this will be the first time we bring it online. I've also been informed that one friend will be eating lasagne and the other a curried noodle dish, so I guess anything goes on spaghetti night now.

I hope this fancy dinner party is so fun and I will look forward to the next one!

We are so embarrassed to announce that the soufflé has collapsed! While we sternly reprimand the pastry chef, we humbly request a postponement of tonight's dinner. When is a better time for everyone?

I might currently be a little over reliant on this board for stability. Anyway, be that as it may, you know that I am in if I am awake. It is 9 hours later in Brussels than LA. If interest is thin, we can just have the chef order us some take-out, politely ask the sommelier to decant something, tell the dealer we are open-minded and go through old photo albums.
