Beautiful Things We Saw On Neighborhood Walks
Re: Beautiful Things We Saw On Neighborhood Walks
wiener dogs make me think of a former boss, a retired art dealer in her 80s, who had multiple wiener dogs over the years and whose home in the Hollywood Hills I would work from. she never married or had children, so in place of where you might expect to see framed photos of family members, such as by the computer I would work from, she instead had framed snapshots of her many (since passed) WIENER DOGS everywhere!! really the energy I'm going for when I'm 80+.

She sounds solid. Teen buds and I (as a teen also) used to dream of having a ranch in our future with an unholy number of weiner dogs who would come running to the sound of a dinner gong rung from the porch.
Re: Beautiful Things We Saw On Neighborhood Walks
Yesterday I drove to Toledo, got lost, and was peacefully absorbed in the grey skies and quiet scenery when I saw two big dogs doing a sex in someone's yard! I laughed so hysterically I almost crashed.

I'm finely attuned to the geese this year- their honking, which I often hear at night when I can't see them. Their nice v formations.

@infopetal I'm about ready for another beautiful NYC dump.

Thank you for these. It feels good to get away from here for a sec.

I live across the street from a men’s state prison. This morning, a group of protesters set up with a loudspeaker, tunes, speakers, and a table of snacks... I was curious but couldn’t tell what it was.
So I was just sitting in my room watching a movie when my mom came in the front door. I hadn’t known she was gone. Turns out she was over there in support!
The group is traveling to different prisons to bring attention to the healthcare needs of incarcerated people.

Also today:
Steve revealed that when he was about 17, he saw Black Sabbath and Night Rider. It was Dio Sabbath, which I think is pretty cool! It was in what I think was called the Speedway Center, a big arena in Toledo that hosted many bad ass 60’s–70’s concerts.
My neighbor is a 60-year-old bachelor guitar player, who comes from a line of local Quaker abolitionists and farmers. He’s just very chill and humane. I love to hear about rock music history in this era, which was extremely bad ass in his era and in my own mom’s era. I live close to Motown and Rock history here in SE MI, and it’s reflected in the average Joe’s experience!

with warm weather and vax life I am slowly expanding the circle in which I venture and last weekend I made it all the way to Inwood Hill where I found my first morels as a newly minted amateur mycologist! they were bbs and I just like to look for mushrooms less keen to eat them so I left them in their home where hopefully they spawn more, but it was really one of my greatest thrills of the year. (here's a pic the dismantle uploader has decided should be sideways)

Woww, your pictures look so beautiful! Please post an update if you revisit the morels.
Today I saw a woodchuck climb up a fence and then climb up a tree! He is built like a gorilla the size of a bread loaf. Never seen him climb like that, it was so athletic.
