Hah, yes, definitely creep! I saw it in New Seasons the other day and thought DAMN that's early for nog. So the creep has infected me. Maybe it can be a Halloween drink now as well.

For reals question though, is NOG a real thing that feels nostalgic and cozy to people? It is not a thing that existed for me outside of seeing it in grocery store dairy cases and movies until I went to Christmas parties as a fully grown adult. I might have once seen it at a friend's house as a kid?

I definitely never had nog growing up, but I also never saw Terminator 2 until I was 25 so what do I know?

joni’s family sometimes will make a holiday Tom & Jerry, which is a noglike cocktail similarly presented in a big pitcher. It’s also pretty gross

I don't think I ever drank any, but I do associate nog and tom & jerry with very warm holiday party times, like a neighbor's christmas party or the christmas tree farm we went to that had a party. I like the idea a lot and the smell, but I don't know if I really want any myself most of the time.

My hot holiday drink of choice is cider with applejack or another kind of apple brandy, throw some orange peel and cinnamon stick in there. I love it so much!

I had my first Nog last night. I bought the New Seasons brand, but realized that it's just Alpenrose which is 50 cents cheaper and on the same shelf.

Pretty good though. Very creamy.

I bought some nog last week. It's the almond kind, I think made by one of the generic almond milk brands like blue diamond. It is pretty good, in small doses, but then after your 6th successive glass it begins to taste real gluey and your heart begins to palpitate and you start getting the nog sweats.

I also bought ranch sauce.

Related: I had my first ever Pumpkin Spice beverage this morning. PSL cold brew with some oat milk at a cute little vegan breakfast window that opened recently in an adjacent neighborhood. Felt like, "world's ending, fuck it, I'm worth it" and guess what? Delicious

In nog adjacent news, I put up Christmas lights today. I love holiday lights so much. Back house tenant goes all in for white icicle. I do incandescent multicolor C9... an annual battle of the lights. I guess it's all nostalgia either way. I have my family's ornament collection which is just a pile of sentimental junk made by us or bought at hallmark and I love them all. I'd like to put bubble lights in a tree.

Just very excited for frankincense and satsuma oranges and candles and listening to the Ave Maria in the dark. Both sides of the family were Catholic which I guess explains that.

I would so love to see the lights!

My home is warmed by candles and a good cleaning-out, some improvements in the arrangement of furnishing etc. I believe that changing my surrounding is key to changing my attitude.

The both sides of my family are catholic too. My mom sings Ave Maria at major gatherings. We’ll see if we go through the effort of setting up a nativity shrine to channel the vibe of newborn J and his exhausted parents.

Also I have been on little tangerines here! I like to crunch up the peels to put their oils in the air. And tangerine and frankincense are some of the most recent oils in my collection so thank you for the suggestion!!

We got our first nog on Thanksgiving. The OG Silk Soymilk version. It's hittin' the spot.

Today I went outside to find the neighbor boy (20-something) on his roof putting up lights. I waved and asked how he was doing and he gave a knee-jerk "I can't complain," which felt nice to hear someone say.

We're entering into a new and confused lockdown on Monday. You can shop at an indoor mall but you can't meet another person in a park?

Should we do NOG REVIEWS?

Hmmm I don't understand the img situation now but here's a try.

Getting on the roof to hang lights is a line I've drawn, even though it means I can't get the lights all the way around the house.

We’ve never done holiday lights before! Not so much as a wreath. I think the maximum we’ll do this year is probably to change our home’s street-facing scrolling LED reader to a warm and convivial holiday message (currently it says “ANOTHER WAY IS POSSIBLE!,” our stab at utopian thinking).
