2022 or Bust!

Post by yourfriendclaire »

Happy new year, Dismantlers! I love this quiet corner of the internet.

2021 felt like a non-year, although plenty happened. Maybe we should move past focusing so much of our energies on the transitions from year to year—remember when we were all like "fuck 2020!!!" and then literally nothing changed? But I still like taking a moment to reflect and pin my little hopes on something. What are you hoping to do more of this year? For me it's more nature time, trying to write every day, and more consistent volunteering.

Every year, my resolution is to say 'yes' more. How is is that I am just as bad at saying yes to stuff as I am at saying no?

We have a working (draining) bathtub! Now that there is a way to bathe myself in the home I live in, I feel like I can resolve to do anything else:

- Pancakes every Sunday.
- Sell homemade clothes already and stop being afraid to charge money for things I make (but how much??).
- Clean up downstairs and plan the next exhibition.
- And give the shop/gallery downstairs a name.
- And hire a window painter.
- And people come over for pancakes.

One good thing about not having a shower for 3 months is that we went to people's houses a lot and started going to the pool regularly. Turns out swimming feels great. For the full mental image: I swim in an aging homemade yellow two-piece with my prescription glasses on.

The answer to all of this is obviously a hybrid pancake restaurant/dress shop/gallery!

Agreed. Big hit over here. I have two colleagues who have shown it to their senior classes. One for English as a 3rd language and another in Philosophy (they are currently studying Sartre's Nausea).
