Philosophical Theater

Post by richjensen »

I woke around 4 am and because I am 'on vacation' and free of certain rules I set for myself in other spheres there was a computer in my bed. It has been a habit - I have no idea how long I have done this - to keep some kind of spoken word program running all night as I sleep.

I could say much more about this (and there is something generous and gentle about the social environment attending to DISMANTLE.WORK that seems to call out for more to be said) but at this particular moment I want to rush to present the object that provoked this thread. Perhaps we can get into the details later.

It was a recent video among several interpolated to my screen through the algorithmic expression of a search text from me "David Snowden" interacting with the proprietary social graph Alphabet Inc. has accumulated through two decades of tracking aspects of my behavior online (and off).

The video offers a live recording of the first in what is intended to be a series of sessions identified as 'Philosophical Theater'. In this case, the event is a brief public conversation between two highly credentialed men of European descent. It was recorded about a month ago in Zagreb, Croatia.

Cut from 2015. More here: Waterloo Institute for Social Innovation and Resilience

Interesting particularly because of WISIR's association with Turtle Island Institute to connect contemporary work in 'social' complexity theory with Anishinaabe ways of knowing, aka gikendaasowin.
