Thank you Molly.

Last night I dreamed David was riding a little blue skateboard, and I was pretending to be a goose chasing her. We had such fun!

We miss you David <3

RCH, if you’re so moved, you should tell about David in the Pet Cemetery (Not Scary) thread we had going a while back! I’m sure some among us would be happy to also share remembrances of such a special person.

I never met David (or maybe one quick time??) but a special friend like that does not come around often in this life. A very big hug to you over dear David.

Additionally, I have taken to using goose imagery to fall asleep when I can't stop my thoughts. Whatever my stress is revolving around, I insert a goose into the scenario to distract myself. Stressed about school? Imagine a goose in the hallway... It works!

I love Coco! I have such a soft spot for elderly animals now.

Thank you for the condolences and the invitation to go to Pet Cemetery (Not Scary). The next time I need to tell all about David, you're gonna hear it.

Visualization is one of my best tools of self-regulation. I have certain spaces that I have built over time that I beam up to in different situations--one is an island cave, one is a stone cathedral, etc. My best general one for falling asleep to is imagining huge extinct animals of the ocean! Like a mosasaurus... WDaF!!

Look at this dork (marine iguana)

I love building personal mind spaces, and I want to work on this! I have one that's an island just covered in strawberries, nothing else.

infopetal very cool..do you work at the Getty? My friend Sarah works there.

In a similar vein though mini is one of my favorite websites: www.takachizu.org

I think one day I would like to make a "community archive" platform or open source software that would make it easier for communities to do these kinds of things. Maybe even with a public portal like Community Memory

alex I did from 2017–2019. which Sarah? (feel free to PM for privacy)

I don't think I know much about Community Memory despite it being Extremely My Vibe. gotta learn more~

it would be cool to see a lite version of an existing open-source archives platform, i.e. Samvera, that adds dedicated features for community archives and prettier styling a la Takachizu, which is so cute. another reference in this vein is the South Asian American Digital Archive. if you are conceptually interested in community archives, I recommend the work of one of SAADA's co-founders (and my former teacher) Michelle Caswell and her Community Archives Lab.

Ah that is some cool stuff I will check out. I was trying to make something kinda like this called Small Archives (which exists now as just a semi-functional tool for creating collections out of Internet Archive items), but it was just a lot of work and I hate all of the weird like marketing shit needed to get testers, etc. Oh well, some day!

OK then I *have* read about Community Memory, because I've read yourfriendclaire's book! to my credit I read it right when it came out because I such a devoted fan, and we know Before Time memories are a little hazy these days. ;) gotta pull out my copy to revisit!

To be completely honest, it's more like there are a few pages about Community Memory in the chapter about the Resource One Computer Center...anyway, sometimes I have to re-read pages of my own book before I give talks or do interviews, because the process of writing was both a) in the Before Times and b) a stress-induced fugue state that I've partially blanked out?

And no, I hadn't seen this book! Smashed that "add to cart" real quick. Thanks for the tip!

I had a pet rabbit once, Pesky. He was not jumpy. We kept him in my "art room" in the basement of our house, although he usually had free reign of the entire basement area. He was famous for gnawing through electrical cables and shitting absolutely everywhere. He hated me and he hated living with us. He would chase the cat around. When we started keeping him in a rabbit hutch outside he would try to bolt every time we opened the door; I got really good at chasing him around the yard with a net. Finally he bit my Dad hard when I was out of town and ran away for good. RIP Pesky.

lol

It's a word game! My dad and I play Wordle every morning and share our scores with each other. You have six chances to guess a five-letter word. Every time you get it wrong it shows you which letters you had right so you can make a more informed guess. Kind of like hangman, a game I'm just now realizing a) I haven't thought about in 20 years and b) is really fucked up for kids to play??

what's everyone's go-to opening wordle word(s)? my first is "diary," and if there are no matching letters in my first guess (I play hard mode), I follow with "mouse." all the vowels covered, the letter "s," and a strategic "y" within two guesses!

I like to do something real vowel-heavy to open, but it varies! MOUSE was actually my go-to for a while because I had a very portentous dream that I got the Wordle on my first try with MOUSE

I did “adieu” and “haute” for a while, but now it’s random.

I don’t think there are plurals or conjugated verbs… so many you *can* give up “cares”?
