these are what I'm slowly replacing with knickeys! my everlanes began unraveling at the seams within a short period of time although I'm a gentle launderer. before I tried the high rise everlanes I had a trove of HEMA undies I stockpiled in the dozens that lasted me a really long time. long live HEMA!

yeah, I would also put hema in the same orbit as muji stores (like in tokyo where they have a greater variety of stuff), flying tiger, etc. and then add an ikea-like cafe for the big ones.

Some of my best underwear, also, comes from Monoprix (French target, for the uninitiated)

I have been wearing the same filthy pants and sweatshirt for 10 straight days doing "demo" on the house we bought that apparently needed a lot of demolishing. I put them in the washing machine today and I am currently wearing not those things! Feels good!

(Currently I am wearing a toile I made of a raincoat pattern. It is made of slippery polyester covered in parrots. I was too lazy to remove it after testing the size. fin.)

I had to dress up for a Zoom today so I'm wearing a long-sleeved white silk shirt with a mint green cashmere vest up top. Below: filthy white Dickies, thick hi-viz yellow wool socks, and white EVA Birkenstock slides. It's all about balance baby

It was (relatively) warm here! I wore slip on shoes (that covered my toes)! I see a light (hopefully not too long now)!

I bought a pair of vintage Jil Sander jeans on eBay last week that are a very interesting cut...I'm learning how to wear them. I think they must be circa early-2000s, a weird time in fashion. They're roomy and boyish, but also low-rise, with the long back pockets of that era's prestige denim. They feel like a good transition between the ankle-cut/high-rise/wide-leg jeans that have been popular for the last five years and the inevitable, already-creeping return of Y2K-era low-slung bells.

I'm concerned about the return of low rise pants and it makes me feel like a curmudgeon. Mostly I like it when trends shift and in general if/when we aren't all wearing the same silhouette, but low rise ignites some kind of special fear/anger in me.
Probably because they are a young persons pant! I would not look good in them and I would feel so stupid!

The great thing about fashion is you can always say No Thank You. Obvi. I like to buy vintage pretty much exclusively because it's fun to try on yesteryear's silhouettes, or silhouettes I missed when I was a teenager because I was such a dorko. Today I'm wearing a billowing, brick red raw silk jumpsuit that, with my once-again newly-shaved head, makes me look like a cult member. Anyone else back into dressing? I still wear my fair share of leggings and sweats but there are more and more days where I feel a strong need to 'fit up

I am 100% in the wear the style that looks good on your bod and makes you feel like a queen camp. I used to just hoard high waisted pants whenever they were in style so that I'd have enough to hold me over in the mini-zipper eras. Now I make my own. Fuck 'em all and let god sort 'em out!

Been rocking the oversized button-up OVER a grey sweatshirt look. Feels very me!

You were ahead of your time on high-waisted pants! I look back at pics of our college years and I am just mystified by all our jeans...

Oh, in those low rise jeans I am just a pair of walking, talking thighs. I had SOME self awareness, thank God.

Hm. More than getting getting dressed I want to sell all of the things in my closet, but can't find the motivation.

knickey has a new cut of undie that's great if you're super short or have a short torso or small butt (small people problems)
it's the mid-rise, and it's p good for me! the high rise was too big and I was really sad, so this is a nice surprise. it does have more butt coverage, which I didn't necessarily want, but the rise is right.

also, I have another jumpsuit en route and am very excited.

I bought myself an oversize men's cashmere vest on eBay and I've been wearing it as a shirt for three days

Not wearing anything special today since I went on a long bike ride ending at work, but I've been clearing out the closet. I made a big sell pile, fixed some things (cashmere holes, missing buttons), washed things, and it's nice to look at a newly organized closet. I realized I don't have a single pair of jeans I really love. I live in a pair of madewell jeans from the goodwill that I got a big bleach stain on. They are functional not exciting. I would like 100% cotton (or close), high waist, straight or slightly tapered leg, nothing too trendy or loud. I'd also like some plaid pants.

Where have people resold clothing?

Ahh, ok. I’ve looked at realreal for nicies but they take a big cut. I wondered whether poshmark or other clothing specific sites worked better.

I have a handful of unworn but hard to get rid of things. Metallic dries van noten sandals that are just a tiiiny bit small. A Shaina mote dress with tags in the closet six years. A silk kaarem dress worn in my closest friend’s wedding. I don’t know when to let go! It’s hard to imagine having things to wear them to anymore!

Should we start a Dismantle marketplace thread? I’m curious about this Shaina Mote dress

It would look nice on you.

Things come and things go!

I do want to get inspired to sell on ebay though. As an avid goodwill shopper I have things I've bought with the intent to sell that are just freeloading around here like a set of these plates https://www.ebay.com/itm/Jars-France-Di ... Swj3ldVFCH

Oh yeah that's a classy frock!

I've never used Poshmark or Real Real or any of those sites. Most of the time it's easy enough to grab a stock product shot of the item in question, take a couple lesser snaps to prove authenticity, and spend five minutes cruising eBay to guesstimate the going price. I'm no expert though.

Sooo many things in my house started their career with me at an estate sale or thrift store under the auspices of "oh I can sell this online." In another life I could be a full time picker. We have a friend that criss-crosses the country in a van, digging estate sales and buying deadstock from ancient general stores as she goes. It's so romantic to me, like a late-capitalist cowboy life...

Yes. I can perfectly imagine a sliding door scenario in which this is how I am living in an alternate reality.
