One more TV thing—when we're feeling a little down, we've been turning to a very British travel show hosted by comedian Richard Ayoade called TRAVEL MAN, also on Hulu. It's sometimes frantically-paced and best with subtitles on.

We are watching DEVS & Mr Robot. I've seen season 1, Ansley has now seen the first 3. If anyone wants a good pandemic move FLU was pretty good.

Big Fan of lefty webinar streams. The lefty European Party Diem25 founded by Yanis Varoufakis & Srećko Horvat have been running a YouTube livestream everyday, often with famous names and/or interesting talkers.

I'm also curious about https://koir.tv, a kind of curated live-stream recommendation list launched a couple of weeks ago by a few clever Berliners.

We just finished season 2 of Kingdom, cannot recommend highly enough. We call it "Slappy Feet in a Closed Room" because season 1 had such bad sound design but don't let that deter you. It is a wonderful window into the world of ancient feudal Korea and its incredible array of fancy hats. Also it's about a zombie apocalypse.

We also watched a lot of Miami Vice because we painted our bathroom Miami Vice colors. It is an insane show and I can't believe it was on the air much less so beloved. We had to stop after 8 episodes.

We watched the spectacularly weird and brilliant movie GREENER GRASS

We watched the first three discs of Ken Burns Baseball which was excruciating but I was withstanding it to be polite but then finally Gary couldn't take anymore either so we stopped

We also watch a lot of weird good movies on Mubi, any Mubi-heads out there?

WHOA that webinar looks tight!!!

I spend a lot of time looking up movies on Reelgood to see if they're available on the services I have access to. I tag them "To See." But I don't watch them.

I like the Mubi idea

I watched Mandy which was fun but kind of falls apart. I watched The Invisible Man and it was the scariest thing I can remember seeing. I'm excited about Tales from the Loop because I've always adored the paintings.
Need to investigate Mubi...

Day 20, I caved and signed up for Disney Plus, the streaming service. It has become the main force in my small household (me and a 5 year old) and every day is built from moments in between doses from the stream. It is pure and powerful, 100% impenetrable intoxication, choice black tar. It's like I brought a nuclear weapon into the home and I fire it off all the time. But it allows me to do things like cook, clean, bathe, taxes, sit, etc.

Just started Russian Doll...
Still have not made it all the way through the Larry Gus documentary! But I like it!

I've got Mubi and am into the idea of a mutual experience. It would hopefully get me to use it more. I kind of doubt we have the same movies in Belgium though...

We watched Invisible Man last night and were surprised by how good it was. We (specifically Gary) are huge, huge fans of the 1930s original and were annoyed when this reboot was announced but credit where it's due, that shit was scary as hell, and flipping the protagonist from the IM himself to the girlfriend (who is not much of a real charac in the orig) was a great concept, there I said it.

I felt like the ending was setting up a superhero backstory which would be SO rad. A female superhero with that specific type of gaslighting/abuse trauma as her origin story??? She's got that suit and even that crazy Doberman companion which is so comic booky. And she goes around invisibly and punishes abusers? PITCH ROOM

We watched the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, Oklahoma, the other night.
Good dancing, bad plotting.

We're watching:
Little House on the Prairie
Veronica Mars
Below Deck: Sailing YACHT
RuPauls Drag Race

Oklahoma is so creepy. We watched it recently and I'd forgotten how dark it is--that guy is a stalker and a sex creep, and no one listens to her! It's stressful. I also like the dancing though.

Revisiting Little House is a strong call right now!!!!!

I was surprised at how little happened in Oklahoma. Nothing happens for 2 hours and then it gets wild in the last 5 minutes.

Little House is amazing. The pilot is a movie from 73 and it's so slow and so few characters and about them moving to Kansas (not where the show takes place) and living alone on the plains and almost dying and its like a 70s Malick or a Kelly Reichardt.

The actual series has some bad eps, but some are so beautiful and intense and deep.
In season 1 there's an episode where there's a typhus outbreak and everyone has to quarantine and it turned out there were rats in the towns cornmeal supply (typhus comes from fleas on rats). So that was cool.

Guys that movie was NOT about gum

I'm gonna watch Little House!!! It sounds so good. I know I watched it as a kid but I only remember the season (?) when they are living in a town, and it's decadent but Laura is menaced at school by the bully Nellie Olsen.

Sasha and I watched "A Pervert's Guide to Ideology" by Zizek over the weekend. Pretty entertaining and interesting.

I rented it on Vimeo "On-Demand" via a VPN connected to Germany and ripped it if anybody's interested. Will be up for week:

I'm enjoying a funny sketch comedy program on Home Box Office called Mr. Show. It seems like it was deeply influential in its time and beyond. I am borderline sexually obsessed with one of the head writers, Bob Odenkirk, who has been an emotionally thwarted middle-aged man his entire life.

We just started watching Lars von Trier's 1994 Danish hospital horror mini-series, The Kingdom. And oooh boy.
