This is so good [jonathan_stick]. I'm trying to learn this on piano rn. It's hard! Also I don't know how to play piano.

I’m thinking of properly learning to play piano in the next phase of quarantine. You doing online lessons or just freestyling?

I released a new VCA Product on Monday.
It looks like this:

After 5-6 years I can finally make an "all me" voice.
That was neat to release something after a year of development...

I like small-community plug threads!

I recently self-published a novel called The City. It's a near-future thriller set in the collapsed United States in which electric power no longer exists and the federal government revives the horrors of the 20th century. It's a sequel to a shorter novel called The Country.

Here's the first book, and here's the second.

I'm proud of them. They're accessible and tightly-plotted thrillers that manage to smuggle some thoughts about Holocaust literature, the problem of power, and the future of care into stories that even my doesn't-really-read father enjoyed, lol!

And here's a short essay I wrote about COVID-19.

We did another one. This time we covered Dub Narcotic Sound System.

https://youtu.be/cMWz0xc3M7Q

We shot the video on our phones then ran it through a machine learning model that estimates the depth in each frame and outputs a depth map. This is the same technique that makes "Portrait Mode" possible, but you never get to see what it's doing in the background. Right now people only use this information to fake depth-of-field, or to do filter effects that are depth-aware, but I really like this raw ghostly stuff.

This is a fun and cool technique! Favorite things: drum set looks cool, dancing in hoodie, trash cans in the driveway, great color combos- purple and white! pink and blue! orange and something!
Thumbs up!

This is so cool, Jona and Claire! I love your deadpan, breathless vocals, CC—cheeky take on the originals.

The shapes that the depth map makes are natural and interesting. I love that you layered the frames, it makes the edges exciting.

Some hard working punx have launched an organization today called Union of Musicians and Allied Workers. Check'm out here: Union of Musicians . One of their first orders of business is a letter to Congress demanding emergency support in these exceptionally gigless and precarious times. Maybe you want to sign? COVID-19 Relief Letter.

I was thinking about that little cowbell moment in the Dnss cover. Such a crucial detail.

Is there any way we can get a video where Claire "plays" the instruments and Joni lip syncs? Now more than ever in these trying times?

I turned my Quarantune of the Day series into a podcast that is now happening every dang day.

It's short.

1 song is the focus and there's a couple minutes of me chatting about it.

It's called Everyday Joy & Pain

I made that one and just could not wait to show it to Claire. I was in the other room just giggling. My favorite part is when “he” sweeps his arm and tiny fingered-hand to present “Gum Pal.”

I will respond with all my thoughts, as usual:
First thought, this is Paint! I also know you got out a vintage computer recently. Did you use that in making this?
Next thought, I feel like the video went well with the song. I paid more attention to the song this time than in the last couple where it was kinda all about the video experience for me. After the clay one, I asked Korn if he'd seen it and he was like, "I heard it on bandcamp, if that is what you mean. They are a band and make music, right?" And I actually had to think about what the song even was, I was just that into the gum guy. This time though it felt like a nice balance.
Last thoughts, I like the song. I like the video.
