Personally, I've been listening to Mondkopf lately. Nice doomy-electronic from France. Here's one of my faves by him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XF81ZYWcGg

...on a related note..my band has a new album releasing TOMORROW!! ...you can listen to the premiere at 9 AM PST here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LARDEySv69Y

..or singles via https://mightymissoula.bandcamp.com/ in the meantime.

I thought ZZ Top was cool as a kid, but as a teen and deep into my mid-20s I passively thought of them as a dumb joke until a nice man in Chicago played me the original (they added synths later) version of Tres Hombres. The drums sound so good on this album.

We listen to a lot of the Dutch Masters (of radio), aka Intergalactic FM:
https://www.intergalactic.fm

There are three channels: Disco Fetish, 70s funk and disco—great for vigorously cleaning the house, and Cybernetic Broadcast System and Dream Machine— both of which feature consistently great deep cuts of ambient, electronic, folk, rap, and so many weird interludes of Russian radio beeps and announcements.

Give it a chance and you'll find at least one song that you will fall in love with.

hey all,

@morgan and I and a couple of friends have been hanging out listening to music on jqbx every Sunday evening. it's really fun–you have a queue and it plays a song from each in order. there's a chat and a voting function which are also fun. it only works through Spotify though.

in any case, if anyone here wants to hang Sunday 6pm est, let me know! i can also post the link here when its time

Iggy Pop makes me laugh that he is even still alive. He hosts a nice very eclectic show Fridays on BBC6. This one is reputed to feature minutemen but so far the standouts are tracks by Rudy Vallee and Françoise Hardy. #NP https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000gc3s

I just got into Erik Davis' podcast, "Expanding Mind." Rich, seems like something you'd be into already? He paused the podcast recently but the archives are SO deep: radical permaculture, talking to plants, 90s festival culture, alien shit, ethnobotany, conspiracy kitsch etc.

Seems like every ten years or so somebody tells me how much I would relate to Erik Davis' line of interest. I will dive in. :)

I'm giving a remote lecture tomorrow as a visiting artist and the professor asked if I'd like to suggest some songs to play in the zoom while we are gathering... I'm having a diabolically great time choosing music for stressed out college kids to listen to.
The Johnnie Frierson is in there, along with Whitesnake, Saint Etienne, Soul II Soul. Let's cancel the lecture and just let me play songs for captive youth!

"Sally Says" is one of my favorite early Velvet Underground tunes. A VU cassette-only bonus single released only in Brazil, if I recall correctly.

The new Daughters album in grim moments. A lot of LCD Soundsystem and Kendrick. And revisiting a bunch of dance music from my teen years (e.g. Simian Mobile Disco, Hot Chip, Aphex's Drukqs, Sebastian's stuff, etc.).

We just tried the new Fiona Apple album and it's obviously the work of a great artist but we turned it off mid-way because it was exhausting

Just realized I still consider Extraordinary Machine as her 'new album.' Just like I still think of Zooropa as the new U2 album.
