Today is the birthday of Geneviève, world-famous Canadian cartoonist. She is widely missed and fondly remembered. I thought it would be nice for us to tag her in Roll Call on this day, because she was a core netizen of this board.

I always rolled up my sleeves to read her long, deep posts, so often reflecting on the ethics and best practices of living in a world such as this. She had such empassioned, specific points of view, but would also consider consensus and balance.

The kinds of discussions that caught her interest are one of my favorite parts of this community--ideas that call up our notions of integrity and deeper consciousness. Happy birthday to a true Spring Queen!

Happy birthday to Joey. She was one of my best friends and I think about her all the time. I find I mostly remember her most viscerally in the full heat of summer, when she died; so thank you for this reminder of the rainy spring season in which she came to be born as well.

Your description of her dialogue style is so good. I miss her perspective and talking through things with her a lot; I miss arguing with her. She was such a compelling amalgam of dichotomies: furiously angry yet profoundly compassionate and kind; dark and serious, even glowering, yet with the silliest silly streak, a real goofball. An amazing hostess with the warmest most comfortable home and yet a major slob. Just the other day I was remembering her advice to me on how to speak French with a good accent: "you have to make your mouth like a French butthole." She was right!

Such a true Spring Queen! You are so right to roll call her!!!
