We went to Hoffy's kosher takeaway in Antwerp today and got a bunch of Ashkenazi delights like kasha with mushrooms, stuffed cabbage, latkes and homemade red horseradish. Finally got my cozy feast this evening!

Love that for you! Tell about the stuffed cabbage! What is it stuffed with? I have several sad cabbages in the crisper and I’d like to make something other than sauerkraut for once.

I made scallops for the first time. Mashed potatoes, scallops, and brussels sprouts.
Also this REALLY great Greek natural wine. More of an orange wine than a white, but what do I know?
Anyway I highly recommend it.

Love a greek wine rec!
@cog, usually stuffed cabbage is a meaty affair but I have seen it (or can imagine it? Don't remember which) filled with a hearty veggie mix like kasha (buckwheat) or lentils, mushrooms, diced carrots, caramelized onion, garlic... Basically your steam the whole leaves for a sec to make them pliable. Your fill them with your filling like lil' burritos. You fill a pot with them and a tomato sauce of your choice plus some shredded cabbage from the leaves that broke and cook away until your whole house is filled with a cabbage scent that you fear might be permanent.

Sideways with Paul Giamatti! Good call @meadows, and also a good joke. That was huge when it came out, back when an indie could pack theaters.
