We used to see him at our friends' free comedy show (Power Violence) all the time, and then he came to see us play in New York in 2014 and hung out a bit afterwards. I was too shy to go deep with him, but he seems nice. Claire talked to him more than I did.

I hate that liminal space of being unsure whether or not you've already met someone, but not wanting to betray your own uncertainty, because what if you have met? So you remain neutrally friendly, even effusive. But if you haven't met? Then you're being so weird by pretending to know them. I can't tell you how many times I've been like, "I'm going to end this hell by just introducing myself," only to discover I've met that person many times. God. I guess this situation will never happen again?

So beautiful! That was very strange... I have not seen or thought of that movie in 30 years but it was instantaneously recognizable. It has such a painterly quality, I guess it impressed itself on me deeply! I also conflate this movie with Watership Down and the Disney short The Old Mill. They are all one thing in my head.
