Those Holly Hunter photos remind me of this great sketch I heard Sudi Green who is now one the SNL supervising writers had as the first thing in her packet years ago— it was an advertisement for "long grey braids" for women. With like a turquoise thing.

Debbie Harry
Kim Gordon
Iggy Pop

So typical of me! Everyone's people are so good. Sarah, who is that beauty? I have definitely spent time gazing at her before... Phil, is that your grandfather?

I am very invested in being fabulous in my old age. The show Absolutely Fabulous made a big impression on me at a young age (which is funny because now I can understand that they were mocking their own terror of aging and irrelevance). My grandmothers both heavily influenced my style in different ways. I wear clothes they owned and my grandpa's t-shirts, hats, and pins pretty regularly.

When I was growing up, I spent a lot of time around my grandparents and their friends. I thought this one lady was so cool; she was Southern, soft-spoken but downright wry, very feminine, and never drank from a glass or can, only a straw, to keep her lipstick in order.

There are so many more!

Holly Hunter's look was great for Top of the Lake. I must buy a similar wig when the time is right.

RCH Michèle Lamy, she's married to Rick Owens!
Her power seems vast...

I can't wait to have long grey braids, or a grey buzzcut, or sharp grey bob with huge glasses. Oh wait, that's Joan Didion!

Also, Patrick Stewart from the waist-down (too city/fancy up top):

I resonate w Hunter bc her look is genuinely cool while also somehow being funny. I also think we have similar features (tiny faces) so I can actually picture myself aspiring to this vibe.

But so many rad old ladies have inspired my visions of my Crone Years over the course of my life. Such good looks and styles and embracing of the ravages of time.

I really like the idea of a uniform. People like David Lynch, Fran Liebowitz. I want like ten of the exact same outfit and that'll be it for me.

He's definitely too fancy and rich for me but Pierce Brosnan is def living his best life and I wouldn't mind looking like him at 67.

It is funny you ask, ritchey because I literally constantly ask myself when I make new clothes or dress myself, 'would Tove Jansson wear this?'

Alex it's so weird but when you said Pierce Brosnan it weirdly made sense to me (for you), on some deep level (in a good way)

This is pushing it but lately I've been moved by the actress Stephanie Powers' looks from when she was in her 40s–60s. Please note that very early in her career she went as "Taffy Paul."
