Premise: A single (female) successful professional who lives with her retired mother and son hires a single (male) live-in helper. It is somehow unclear to us who the boss is. I went my ENTIRE childhood watching this show thinking that we (the audience) had no way of knowing who the boss could possibly be in this scenario. It is truly insane.

Also this moment, when Tony walks in on Angela getting out of the bath is television magic. He's got his bathrobe and loofa on a stick. She's there with this massive radio headphones contraption and then we get a close up of skin from all over a greased-up model's body. Like a belly button shot, knee caps, a shoulder. Then the towel closes. So much tension!

I almost certainly consumed many, many hours of this television show in my young life and yet I remember ABSOLUTELY nothing about it, not even this premise! Same with "Step by Step" and "Designing Women," which I know for a fact I watched every day after school while eating just the marshmallows out of the Cap't Crunch box. Were the network sitcoms of this era really so vapid and forgettable or was I just young? Note: I do remember the entire Animaniacs theme song.

Can we also use this thread to talk about after-school snacks?

I associate this kind of TV closely with making myself snacks unsupervised. My favorite after-school snacks throughout elementary and middle school:

- A plain slice of wheat bread, placed on a plate, piled with sliced cheddar and sprinkled with oregano, and then microwaved until the cheese was melted and the bread got weird and oily and soft.

- An entire orange including the peel (too lazy to throw away the peel, so ate it)

The direction of this thread is not stated or even implied. It is therefore open to all stream of consciousness thought (do you even know me?).

I remember nibbling away at an orange peel out of curiosity and boredom, but the whole peel is very punk rock.

Afterschoolsnacks regularly: nachos/quesadillas (cheese crisps actually, sonoran style) in the toaster oven; there was always a tub of homemade salsa in the fridge so chips and salsa; a small can of corn; a glass of Squirt.

My favorite latchkey kid snacks were always in approximation of real junk food, which we didn't have. Plain toaster waffle with butter and 1/3" of white sugar on top? Yes. Plain raisin bran or corn flakes with several spoonfuls of white sugar? Hell yes.

I loved cornflakes with sugar as a kid. Getting to the bottom of the bowl to enjoy that spoonful of milky, half-dissolved granulated white sugar? Oh baby!
