drinking and stuff

Post by kmikeym »

I am drinking more. It's mostly fine, but I decided to start tracking it.

I was thinking about eating weed gummies or something.

I have some mushrooms in my closet, but haven't taken them yet.

I have a drawer full of xanax and have been taking more than usual. I am not approaching drug addiction or anything like that, but the lack of sunlight has exacerbated my circadian rhythm disorder to a considerable degree and it's kind of the only way I can regulate my sleep cycle right now.

Anyway that's what I'm doing instead of drinking! I did eat a gummy the other night and it was nice. I was thinking about shrooms but was like ok that trip could be really harsh. Maybe do a microdose if you're going to do them?

Also, if you'd like to have a Happy Hour on Google Hangouts I am very down!

I was just musing about starting an Erowid thread! Trip reports!

We switched from smoking weed to edibles to give our lungs a break for obvious reasons. I’ve never been that into edibles but I’ve been enjoying it as a body thing; I get less in my head paranoid/“oh god the world is actually ending” and more dippy-trippy-looking-at-clouds. My 2020 mantra was supposed to be “get out of your head and into your mind” so it’s pretty fitting.

On the "weekend" (doesn't really seem like those exist anymore) I'll have a couple drinks and maybe a gummy, but otherwise have been pretty sober. Drinking lots of water.

I have found that about 2mgs of sativa gummy can add a bit of zeal to the afternoon.

I will tell you the damn truth which is that I have ONE (1) weed product in my home, and it is a pineapple-flavored lollipop that Claire gave me in 2014 or 2015 because she was going to Canada and didn't want to take it over the border. Every once in awhile I take one lick off it and then get scared and put it away. The other day I took two licks and played a simple Bach Invention on the piano over and over for awhile and it was very good #selfcare.

I have two drinks a night, every night, I love it and look forward to it and I DGAF

I am drinking a lot more water than usual

I am drinking water with lemon all day like a damn queen.I'm also drinking wine in the evening most evenings but I try to take nights off every week to prove I can. My partner doesn't drink at all so I'll do a Zoom happy hour with a friend and then close the laptop and still be "having fun" which basically means interrupting whatever Chris is doing and loudly telling him my opinions or "trying out new bits." And that is marriage!

I purchased a Verilux HAPPY LIGHT and it really helps my mood and sleep patterns. I live in Los Angeles, but a few days of rain and no sun really get to me.

Couldn't be! We moved here in 2014 and it definitely happened here. And we were living in our first house when it happened, so that is 2014 or 2015. And I remember it was cold. Those are my clues.

I can appreciate this, but I literally went six straight months without sleeping last year...doctors say I have a circadian rhythm disorder because they don't know what to call it or how/why I am even still alive. Sadly Xanax, or hiking 40 miles/week (which is now illegal in my State) are the only things that work for me.

Getting to the back of the liquor cabinet - what do you mix with apricot or peach brandy so that it doesn't immediately make you think of ralfing?

Maybe you could make a Peach or Apricot Negroni - try replacing the Campari with the brandy?

Or mix with soda/champagne for a spritz?

I bought so many gummies before lockdown and was grooving pretty hard until my anxiety ramped up to the sky. Taking a break now, and just grooving on chocolate and seltzer.

I can't take mushrooms if I can't go outside!

Will y'all give your fave cocktail recipes? If I drink liquor atm, it'll be two fingers of room-temp gin in a glass. I feel like that could be improved upon...

Paper Plane!!!! I forget the proportions but you can google. It's SO delicious, simple, and fresh.

The other drink I make regularly is:
2 oz tequila
1 oz lime juice
1 oz cherry juice
top it off with seltzer

seems weird but is good

Make it the same way but sub whiskey/lemon

Tonic water with no sugar, easy to find in any old shop, improves upon gin (as do ice cubes). If the tonic water is too bitter, you can add plain soda water. Something sweet like jelly or syrup could be mixed with water and stirred in... (basic but nice)

I like tequila with a lil grapefruit juice, lime and soda water. Or a Negroni! But honestly I usually prefer a nice liquor straight

Yeah, I kinda didn't mean for my gin-fingers to sound depressing. I have great gin. It is Irish and made with milk, which sounds gross but tastes funky!
I'd like to have some mixing tequila in the house. Both the cherry and lime and the grapefruit and lime sound like winner combos. Honestly, even just tequila and fresh squeezed oj is freaking great.
I pinned a bon appetit recipe for a paper plane! Thanks buds!

We did a dry January and I'm honestly shocked at how different I felt at the end of the month vs. on New Year's Day. Alcohol is not benign! I am 10,000 pounds (metaphysically) lighter

I pretty much quit drinking beer at the beginning of the pandemic and haven't really resumed.

Love some natty wine or a nice cocktail now and again though.

Relatedly, I've lost like 10-15 pounds since the beginning of the pandemic, highly related to reducing my intake of beer/bread/chips/other carbs.

I know this is blasphemy, but I’m so sick of natural wine! It’s bitter and smells like a sock. I don’t want my wine to taste like kombucha anymore.
