Re: What are you wearing?
This is a very classic RCH thread.
Jona and I actually just went through our closets and drawers to put things in storage; I boxed up pretty much everything "dressy" or "fancy" (very tenderly) and put it away in the garage. It felt bittersweet but really practical; I feel I'm using my house and my things differently, and I'm trying to reorganize to prioritize use. That being said, I did hang on to some "swanning around" stuff I thought I could enjoy wearing around the house, like silk robes etc.
Right now I'm wearing double-thick black Uniqlo leggings, a pair of thick black wool socks, and a long-sleeve cotton shirt I bleach dyed yesterday and sewed an old Wipers patch onto. When I went out for a walk earlier I completed the look with an XXL thick black cotton crewneck sweatshirt, black beret, black mask, and black Blundstone boots. Apocalpyse chic!

Re: What are you wearing?
I have been a slob. Sweatshirts and athletic pants (like sweatpants, but technical) most days, occasionally putting on a nice shirt for a zoom call. Bike clothes for rides. Less hair combing that usual, just hood up, helmet on, or a hat. I did buy new underwear even though I have plenty.
Re: What are you wearing?
This is such a great thread, I have been thinking about this for several days. I have always walked the razor's edge between "work acceptable" and "too weird/slobby for work," an edge made much finer and more treacherous since I moved to uptight New England, but now I have truly descended into a bottomless pit of slobbery. I think I just cycle between two pairs of sweatpants and four shirts, thoughtlessly. I am also not keeping track of how often I wash my hair. I have to actually put on a post-it "get dressed" before I teach or have a meeting (on Zoom). The other day I was wearing this VERY aggressive obscenity-laden pro-abortion t-shirt Gary got for me that I would never wear out of the house and 2 minutes before starting my grad seminar I realized I was still wearing it, plus my hair was up in this weird bun it had been in for 3 days. After that I literally put "look in the mirror" on my calendar before Zoom meetings.
I love the idea of trying to swan around a bit though. I need a silk robe! All my swanning clothes are for winter (many ponchos).

Re: What are you wearing?
I adore my synthetic grey-green Eddie Bauer technical dress slacks I found on the big table at Costco last month. [$15!] They feel like sheer 3d printed rubberized linen. They crinkle but don't wrinkle!
Re: What are you wearing?
Ritchey: Excellent tale. It entertained me.
Richjensen: I literally googled "eddie bauer technical dress slacks" because my mind drew a completely empty thought bubble. I should have just left it that way and used it as a meditation tool.
I made my new favorite pants right at the beginning of all this and do not take them off. They have an elastic waist (a new way for me!) and are tapered but not tight. For those in the know, they are kinda like Clyde pants in shape and vibe and with a side panel, but mine have pockets in the front and back instead. Might make another pair with the side pockets next? They are safari-guy colored thick linen that someone gave me and I love them. With them I also wear a homemade pull-on merino wool jersey bra and I have surprised myself by choosing to wear a lot more button-up shirts than I ever thought I'd choose to wear. Turns out I've got some good softies! Today however, I am wearing the t-shirt from my circus school which is called, circus zonder handen. Olé!
Hold on, I've got a totally selfish question for you. New thread!

Turns out my happy pants are water repellent nylon spandex chinos. They make a scratchy crunchy sound when I walk.

I would like to know what RCH is wearing!
Re: What are you wearing?
Everyone is looking so great!
Claire, my heart leaped into my throat when I read you put up your frippery. Remember when you wore plain black sweat suits?
Molly, your pants sound really cool. I love linen but then I feel like the wrinkles betray my love handles, etc.
Ritchey, your t shirt sounds like a hoot. I think it's cute that you forget you are a human because you go so deep into learning and canning.
Rich deserves only the best in textile technology. Clothes that talk when you wear them have extra pizzazz.
I often dress up precisely because no one sees me. I wear a lot of sweet frocks with cozy tights. I have coined the term "chromatherapy" to define the link between my feelings and colors... Lots of zealy greens and blues, cherry and tomato red, and gold from nature. As many animal prints as I can find.
Today I'm wearing a Glass Candy t shirt with a pink design and my new red plaid ska pants!

I’m still getting dressed. It’s one of my the primary joys in my life. Also I typically wear my finest garms to the farmer’s market so being in a Margiela suit at home is just fine. Today I went for a relaxed look to pick up my Azure Standard delivery. I’m waiting in my car in black speed trainers, floral socks with a ruffle that hits the exact top of my shoe, uniqlo leggings, a black crewneck sweater that says 99cent Bowery in white flocked letters that I made for my gallery, sexy black nike pushup sports bra, and an oversized vintage d&g bomber, black mask, blue sterile gloves. Hair in afro puff, secured by light pink scrunchy. Black sunglasses, updated cat eye style. Delicate silver hoops that are shaped like flowers. The truck is here!

Re: What are you wearing?
My favorite home outfit is some kind of slip or nightgown, silk or very fine cotton, with an ancient hoodie and faux crocs that are like $12 on ebay.
Color combos this week: yellow slip, baby blue hoodie, green croc & white slip, neon red hoodie, green croc

Re: What are you wearing?
I get dressed like I'm going to work everyday.
It helps with routine and productivity for me I think.
Wearing hats less than I normally do.
I became a Hawaiian shirt guy a couple years ago. The thing about Hawaiian shirts is that the are floral generally, or the ones I like. I'm not talking about shirts that have the LA Dodgers logo in a Hawaiian style print. But floral shirts or maybe they have fruit of them. They are colorful and lively and show signs of life.

Re: What are you wearing?
The underwear today is pink, so paired with these very very worn down black Carhartt work pants that have a crotch hole in an inopportune spot, depending on the angle of crouch, the pink protrusion looks really explicit. "It's just cloth, calm down" I say to the empty forest and the 5 year old who doesn't care.
Re: What are you wearing?
Today I am wearing Aero sweatpants I got at Goodwill that I believe were made for a sorority girl (intentional showing of butt no matter what you do), socks I think I borrowed from my mom, a 10 year old dirty projectors t shirt, and a Patagonia fleece with burn holes all over it (campfire holes) that I also borrowed from my mom. Borrowed = just took and kept forever
I do have to teach today so hopefully I will remember to throw a blazer on top or something.
Hawaiian shirts sounds nice. And Phil your crotch surprise sounds like fun.

Ugh I got rid of all my anti-WTO jewelry and have regretted it ever since!!
I am wearing very lame green pants that are basically normcore khakis, and a vintage LL Bean sweater an old man customer at the bookstore gave Gary as a thank you for Gary helping him mend a different vintage LL Bean sweater.

Re: What are you wearing?
I am in my elastic waist pants and circus t-shirt again! Full circle! Oh, and a black and yellow Moroccan kaftan.
Re: What are you wearing?
I think the woodsmoke smell in these pants is starting to putrefy and I may have sat on a slug. Not trying to be gross, it's just what I'm wearing.
Re: What are you wearing?
At first I was just in athleisure all day because I was like, "I can do 53 minutes of work every hour and then do 7 minutes of pushups and situps!" But that was dumb; I never did it.
So then I stopped, and now I get up and work out, then shower, then put on lightly professional clothes (like, didn't break out the sheath dress & blazer until I had to give a keynote by Zoom) for the rest of the day. It's working better, but it is true that I can't, like, grab my kid and go kick a ball outside as easily.
At all other times, I am wearing this one Fjallraven super-ultra-huggy-soft waffle weave wool pullover my best friend gave me. It's just so damn comfy and warm!
I like the idea of putting away all the clothes (and shoes!) I'm simply not going to wear for along time. I think I'll do that this weekend.

I've pretty much been in a cream crushed velvet XL minidress that is my nightgown for the last 6 weeks except for when I go to the grocery, go on zoom, or go for a bike ride. Not going to lie. Or get dressed.

Re: What are you wearing?
I’ve reverted to how I dressed in fourth grade: bicycle shorts, big t-shirt, cozy socks
Re: What are you wearing?
I just got some bike shorts and have been doing this getup too! I love it- legs are out but you can still layer and keep warm. Legs out is one of my favorite body sensations. I yearn for cutoffs season.
Re: What are you wearing?
I've descended into madness and am now wearing my slobby-ass hoodie, no bra, and SLIPPERS even when I TEACH. It's just two grad students and I assume they don't care. I also wear this for meetings though. I've always been notably the worst/weirdest-dressed person in my department and now it is very much next-level. "Who cares"
Re: What are you wearing?
I feel like I might weirdly dress better now?
I recently made this strappy tank top out of a white linen curtain that was hand embroidered by someone's Italian great-grandmother as part of a trove of handmade things that you give to a daughter when she marries. Like a trunk of decades of embroidery applied to expensive lines for a marital bed. This Italian woman Korneel teaches piano to gave them to me like it was No Big Whoop. I put antique glass buttons up the back and it feels like a Nice Thing. Because this is a braless number and you see all of my armpit hair when I wear it, it is not a school item (sideline: is it problematic that I don't shave my armpits but also don't want to expose that decision to the 200-odd judgemental 12-16 year olds in my care? Am I a bad feminist? You'd think Europeans would be ahead on this front but They Are Not.) Anyway I wear it and a vintage kimono over my elastic-waisted pants and it feels like I'm coming up in the world.

Somehow I feel like I have somehow presented myself as someone with elegance. I am uncomfortable with this characterisation.

It is now full-blown summer in Los Angeles (last three days have hit 90) and I wore Claire’s XS off-white 100% recycled cotton EVERYBODY.WORLD shorts yesterday. I liked it. I don’t really wear shorts.

Thanks Claire.
Meadows, I can't find it on the site right now but its a uniqlo shirt that is kind of like wide and boxy and the back is a little longer than the front so there is like an asymmetrical notch on each side. Fun!
